Monfragüe National Park

This guided route explores the diverse habitats of Monfragüe National Park and its surrounding areas, with the aim of observing the widest possible variety of bird species, from impressive raptors to small passerines.
In areas of Mediterranean scrub, we may find species such as the Black-eared Wheatear and several warblers, including Dartford Warbler, Subalpine Warbler, Sardinian Warbler and Spectacled Warbler.
In the open woodland of cork oaks (dehesa), we will be able to observe Woodchat Shrikes, Bee-eaters, Hoopoe, Rock Sparrow, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and listen to the song of the Orphean Warbler in spring.
The traditional cork oak open woodlands (dehesa) offer excellent opportunities to observe species such as Woodchat Shrike, European Bee-eater, Hoopoe, Rock Sparrow and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, as well as to listen to the distinctive song of the Orphean Warbler during spring.

Along streams and riverbanks within Monfragüe, we will explore well-preserved riparian habitats, where species such as Golden Oriole, Short-toed Treecreeper, Cirl Bunting and Melodious Warbler can be observed.

The pine forests of the area host birds including Hawfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Crested Tit, adding further diversity to the route.
